Walk in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps Guided Tour

While at Disneyland, I decided to surprise my husband with a special event that would give him a different view of the Disneyland Park. In this Walk in Walt’s Footsteps tour, I found just the ticket. It was fun to take a journey around Walt’s vision of what Disneyland was meant to be.

This tour truly took you on a walk in Walt’s footsteps. It didn’t show you how a ride was invented or what and where to eat, it focused only on Walt’s vision. You really got to know what Walt envisioned for the park as a whole and what he wanted to accomplish in the future.

We were given headphones to follow along as we toured the Disneyland Park. We heard audio clips from Walt describing his vision for each land, and we even got to hear his opening day dedication from the spot where he delivered it. I can tell you by the end of the tour, I had a tear in my eye listening to Walt tell his story in his own voice.

The tour included the following stops:

Main Street USA Plaza & Hub

Fantasyland center court

Tomorrowland entrance

Frontierland waterfront

New Orleans Square

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln

We also got to cut the line for Alice in Wonderland, the Disneyland Railroad and Great Moments

with Mr. Lincoln.

The absolute highlight of the tour (and the reason I booked it) came at the very end: a visit to Walt Disney’s apartment on Main Street above the Fire Station. It was amazing and worth the cost of the trip in my opinion.

The Walk in Walt’s Footsteps Tour is a VIP-experience and you will need a ticket into Disneyland as well as the cost of the tour. (Annual pass holders and Disney Visa Card Holders get a discount).

The price of the tour included lunch, a Walk in Walt’s Footsteps collectible button with your name on it, and an amazing collectible pin with Walt’s opening day address. The tour is almost 3 hours long, including lunch. When you check in, you’ll order lunch from a special menu and they will have it waiting on the tables for you when you return.

You will have quite a bit of walking to do so be prepared.  It may not be for first time visitors, but for true Disney fans and two ex-cast members, it was a dream come true.
