Aulani’s Ama Ama Restaurant

A visit to Aulani would not be complete without a dining experience at Aulani’s Ama Ama (pronounced Oma Oma).  As one of Aulani’s signature dining locations Ama Ama is elegant, yet laid back.  It is an open air dining experience sunsetlocated on the waterfront side of the resort.  The name Ama Ama derives from the mullet fish swimming off these shores and pays a special tribute to fishing traditions of the area.

My husband and I dined here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and it was everything we wanted it to be.  We were greeted by a friendly hostess who led us to a wonderful beach front table with the most incredible view.

I highly recommend selecting a dinner time that will coincide with sunset.  We sat down at 6:30pm Hawaiian time in June.  Depending on your time of travel, sunset may be different.  Scheduling your dinner to overlap with Oahu’s beautiful sunset is the perfect complement to Ama Ama’s lovely atmosphere

Since this was our first day on vacation and first time ever in Hawaii, we had to have a Hawaiian drink.

We selected 2 of the drinks that were recommended to us.  The green glass of loveliness is the Blue Hawaiian and the I can’t remember the name of the yellow cocktail, but it was full of mango love and was delicious.  Both drinks were fabulous and were a great addition to the wonderful view.  The accent of the Plumeria flower gives it a little Hawaiian touch.

Lau Lau

For Dinner, we both decided to go with seafood.  My husband selected from the Hawaiian Daily Sustainable Catch Menu which was Opa.  It was a great, full flavored fish (not “fishy) served on a bed of vegetables and greens that were delicious.

I selected an option off the menu.  The Hawaiian Snapper also known as Lau Lau was delicious.  This dish arrived wrapped in a Maile leaf topped with a Tamarind-Garlic chili sauce that was amazing.  I highly recommend this menu choice.

As we dined, we enjoyed impeccable service and excellent live Hawaiian music.   With the setting sun, our view of the landscape continued to change to show the beauty of all that is Hawaii.  You will enjoy Ama Ama!
